I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor offering person-centred therapy in Brighton and online. I have experience working with a wide range of clients through RISE UK, a Brighton-based domestic abuse counselling service, therapy agencies in London, and within mental health supported housing, supporting people with diverse psychiatric diagnoses and life experiences.

My training is person-centred, grounded in the belief that each individual is unique and responds to life’s challenges in their own way. I work from the understanding that clients are the experts in their own experience. Through an empathic, non-oppressive therapeutic relationship, I support clients to develop deeper self-understanding and self-acceptance, enabling them to find their own way forward with the difficulties they face.

I receive regular clinical supervision and am committed to working safely, ethically, and professionally. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP, membership no. 01040331) and hold Trainee Membership with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP, membership no. 2011187475) while continuing my Master’s-level training in psychotherapy.

What issues can I support you with?

Person-centred therapy is suitable for supporting individuals with a wide range of issues and experiences, because it focuses on your individual, unique experience, rather than reducing you to a diagnosis or label.

Some areas where I have special experience include:
Difficult relationships
Domestic abuse and trauma
Self-esteem
Working in the performing arts

However, the support I offer is not limited to these areas. Please feel free to
get in touch to discuss whether I might be the right therapist for you.

What if previous therapy hasn’t worked for you?

I may be the right therapist for you if you’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t feel helpful. Perhaps it left you feeling discouraged, or as though you were failing, or the approaches or techniques you were offered didn’t feel like the right fit. I offer a space where you can genuinely be you, and where you will not feel like you have to fit a certain mould to make therapy work.

What is person-centred therapy?

The term ‘person-centred’ can be confusing- particularly because it has been taken up and used in many different industries and areas, who have used the term in different ways.

To me, ‘person-centred’ means more than just focusing on the individual person and their needs; it also means:

• The starting point for therapy is a connection between you and me.

• It’s my job to try to understand you, your experience, and your individual point of view.

• I will accept you for who you are– even the parts of you that you might feel ashamed of, or that others might find unacceptable.

• It’s my job to remain as genuine and self-aware as possible.

You are in the driving seat of therapy, and I will never try to take power over you, or tell you what to do.
